Lenses for Olympus endoscopes, from as small as 0.5mm (0.020") diameter, are manufactured in purpose-built factories in Ina and Aizu, Japan, where many leading-edge production technologies have been introduced, including the manufacture of aspheric and moulded lenses, which give special optical characteristics important in high brightness, small diameter, distortion free systems. |

The same high standards are employed at each manufacturing facility, all of which accommodate leading-edge production processes, including computer-controlled machining, metal forming, laser welding, surface mount printed circuit assembly and automatic testing of electronic equipment. Clean rooms provide a dust-free, temperature-controlled environment for the production of precision optical systems. |

The manufacturing teams include production engineers and buyers, skilled machine tool operators and assembly technicians, all of whom benefit from comprehensive in-house training programmes, to ensure the highest standards of product quality are maintained.
Production control staff, forming the link between Manufacturing and the Sales and Service divisions, use sophisticated manufacturing management software to ensure production plans are targeted to maximize customer service. |
