The Olympus RFITT method for the treatment of endovenous insufficiency is a minimally invasive procedure which is safe, gentle and effective. Consisting of a LabPrecision bipolar power control unit and a 6Fr ProCurve flexible catheter, veins are gently heated to a temperature of between 60°C and 85°C. During the procedure, impedance of the vein tissue is continuously monitored and feedback is provided in the form of an acoustic signal making it possible to evenly control the amount of energy being applied through the length and wall of the vein. |

Under local anaesthesia, the 6Fr ProCurve catheter is inserted through a small opening in the skin near the knee into the saphenous vein using a 6fr Introducer, available from Olympus. |
| When the power output is activated, a precisely delivered application of radiofrequency energy causes the vein to shrink and close - although the vein remains in the body, it is no longer visible or patent. |
