EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM - SEE THINGS IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT
The Olympus EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM video system has set a new standard for endoscopic imaging, offering outstanding image quality, thanks to being designed to meet the 1080i High-Definition Television (HDTV) standard, with four times the resolution of traditional systems. |
| In addition, two special light observation modes, Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) and Auto Fluorescence Imaging (AFI), improve the detection of subtle lesions. |
| HDTV: With four times the resolution of traditional systems, EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM offers true-to-life HDTV imaging that enables even minute capillaries and subtle mucosal structures to be rendered accurately for improved diagnostic capability. |
NBI: This new imaging mode, unique to Olympus, utilises the inherent properties of short wavelength light to enhance the contrast between capillaries and the surrounding mucosa, improving visualisation and enhancing diagnosis.
 | Principles of NBI:

An optical filter built into the EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM lightsource generates narrow-band light, at wavelengths of 415nm and 540nm. These wavelengths are strongly absorbed by haemoglobin and are therefore ideal for the depiction of vascular images.
415nm and 450nm wavelengths tramsit to different depths in the mucosal tissue, improving the visualisation of blood vessel distribution. Capillaries in the superficial layer are emphasised by the 415nm light and displayed in brown, while veins in the the submucosa are made visible by the 540nm light and displayed in cyan. |
| AFI: Using EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM in conjunction with a dedicated AFI scope the autofluorescence signal generated by healthy tissue can now be detected. Malignant lesions have a reduced autofluorescence signal and this difference can be displayed as distinct colour tones on the monitor, to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy tissue for the early detection of lesions. |

Electronic magnification: Supported by sophisticated enhancement processing, the CV -260SL’s built-in electronic magnification system allows moving or still images to be enlarged by up to x1.8 for more detailed observation. |
| IHb color enhancement: Using the biological information obtained from indices of haemoglobin (IHb), this function emphasises subtle colour alteration in the mucosa for easier detection of subtle pathologies. |
| Structure enhancement: The structure enhancement function electronically increases the sharpness of the endoscopic image, while suppressing noise with sophisticated processing algorithms. The result is a more detailed image that improves observation of subtle tissue textures and slight colour variations on the mucosa. |
| User friendliness: EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM is much easier to use and more versatile than previous systems. Features include simple switching between white light and NBI or AFI, ultra-narrow insertion tubes, variable stiffness as a standard feature on all colonoscopes, pre-freeze capability, touch pad keyboards and compact components, including flat screen LCD technology. |
| Backwards compatibility: The EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM system has its own dedicated video processor and light source, however, the CV-260SL and CLV-260SL are fully ’backwards compatible’, allowing operation with Olympus 200, 230, 240 and 260 series videoscopes, making upgrading simple and cost-effective. |
